Remember this picture?
Months ago, I took part in a poster contest for a manga/anime convention near my hometown, Cartagena se Remanga.
I won the 2nd prize (the prize itself wasn't great... while the 1st place winner got money and a trophy, I just got a couple of manga books, a poster and a button, but I was happy to be in the top 3 and see my art at the exhibition anyway, and I thought the winner's poster was really cute).
The 1st place winner's poster would be used as this year's official convention poster and appear on all promotional images.
Recently, someone pointed out that the winner's picture had been traced from a fanart on Pixiv.
At the end, it was disqualified for plagiarism, and today the convention staff changed the official poster on their website.
Now I want to ask you:
What would anyone in their right mind do? Yes, use the 2nd winner's picture as the new poster, right?
They have used a new picture, it wasn't even among the participants (I remember them well, there weren't many participants and the exhibition was quite small, so I took photos of all the posters).
To be honest, I love the new poster they used, I must admit it's much better than mine (and that makes me feel even worse, it kinda makes me feel like I don't have the right to complain about it v_v), but... I still find it offensive that they didn't use mine, or contact me at all.
I mean, if they decided to choose the convention poster through a contest, they should keep that decision until the end.
So the winner was disqualified? Well, there is a 2nd and 3rd place, right?
I read that the new picture was the 2nd place winner at a different convention, BUT it was not at the same convention or the same contest I entered and won.
As my mother said a moment ago, "it's like the winner of the Tour de France was disqualified, and they gave the prize to the winner of a local tricycle race".
And this is why I won't be attending Cartagena Se Remanga this year.
